Who will be Khun Sa’s successor to carry on drug business in the future!
Fa Lung alias Chang Shi Shwen and Khun Seng alias Ronal, closests aides of Khun Sa, are important persons in any case.
They have respectfully been working for the aim of the boss.
Fa Lung used to be the military advisor to Burmese Army commander in chief.
Both have to be successors to carry on the party’s business with massive financial ties to Singapore as Khun Sa had been Burma’s top investor.
Singapore is more than willing to share the drug lords.
Burmese and Singapore level work committee was formed in 1993 to increase mutual interests.
Gen. Khin Nyunt headed the Burmese committee.
Singapore’s investment in Burma is opening door for the drug dealers and giving them access to banks and financial system.
Attentions around the world currently focuse on Burma’s situation after being dead of warlord.
Khun Sa and Lo Sing Han were the key performers in the Burmese economy.
Both had been successful business men in Burma.
The Wa force not long after the MTA surrendered had moved to Mong Mai base to control boder area independenly.
Two rich Chineses, Lao Dai and Charle ,involed heroin trade and longtime Khun Sa’s trusted assistants were captured by US DEA in Mae Sai.
The two men left behind and continued to stay in Ta Ki Lek city had been taken to America.
This news bade Khun SA unhappy.
The reason that Khun Sa has lost army
Fa Lung (Chang Shi Swen), the military in chief and powerful commander in the MTA.
Khun Seng is financial contrller and major management in drugs trading business while Khun Sa himself playing in Political role which is apparently illusive movement of the opium warlord.
All of these men are the ruthless.
There had been many internal management problems since the joined hands merged and the Shan army commanders of the TRA who against the Chinese’s leading unfair policy were fatally killed by gunshot. The killing mostly conducted in the fightings betwen TRA and Burmese, between Wa and TRA,between TRA and Lahu force.
The numerous balltles broke out across the south and east of the Shan State.
The kill behind motive is to root up the hero Shan fighters and real Nationalists struggling for the Freedom as to approve the good relationships between Burmese Government and Khun Sa.
The Shans have lost their lives with meaningless.
However, the drug business of Khun Sa is gainful as he had high aspirations.
In 1987 to 1993 opium production in the Shan State alone is 750 tonns annually and the region is responsible for roughly 50 tonns of heroin.
The whole-sale value of the drug would then be well over US 2 billion dollar.
Therefore, Khun Sa is able to collect well arms and thousands of ammunition and highly powerful equipments for military operation which have been stimulate him to extend influence along the Thai border linking to borders of Lao and China by built strong bases.
Khun Sa has achived his strong will and is smart to build his own empire with hardship of struggle.
But his wrong doing of killing the Shan comrades make him to lose his empire promptly when the patriotic Shan soldiers recuperate and resurrect their forces from the joit-force MTA after being the death of More Haing.

Situation in The United Forces of TRA and SUA

To this day there have been no known battles between the Government and MTA headed by Khun Sa-Moe Haing, leading most sources to beleive that Khun Sa has always had a working agreement with the Burmese Rulers.
The MTA is just to guard the opium business and the Burmese do not consider it as a threat. The KMT force was fought and driven from the Thai border opposite Mae Mae Hong Son and Chieng Dao districts in1985.
After that business connection had to be lost between the MTA and BCP for months. Wa tribe force under the BCP’command is fighting with MTA as months long for control of the heroin rutes and the 20 laboratories lining Shan, Lao and Thai borders.
The KMT leaders and their subordinates members settled down in Fang, Mae Sa Long and Chieng Dao and quited the drugs business.
The soldiers of the TRA, about 800 men equiped well arms, were sent to the north Shan State to battle the Wa as the Wa army has withdrown from the BCP’s political movement and made an agreement of cease-fire with Burmese Government.
The Wa leaders named their force as UWNA United Wa National Army (Called as Regional Defense Force ,not involve with the Political activity aganst the Burmese) and doing the opium and heroin trade while the opium produces hugely in the Wa State.
KHun Sa’s plan is to attack the Wa and to rob their raw opium in Salwin River and important transit point and routes of shipment between Wa State Thai border oposite Fang district where heroin refinery is based and controlled by Way Brothers Haw chinese entrepreneurs.
The TRA soldiers disagree Khun Sa’s order and consider to break away.
(Khun Sa’s dilemmar and crisis that leading him to surrender to Burmese Junta will be continued)
Khun Sa spends longtime in the jungle to do what he wants to be and has acheieved his purpose
His main purposes (1) to expel the white Chinese, the Kumingtong Force led Gen. Lee and Gen. Duon, (2) to control the whole opium trade and (3) to build his own empier in the Shan State solely. That is not meant fighting for the Freedom of the Shan State but he declares the World that he is Patriotic Fighter for the autonomy of the Shan people who are being under pressure of the Burmese Ruler for decades .Due to his purpose, he trys to build a small armed force folowing his militant experience in KMT (The Kumingtong army) which involed the opium trade hugely and tried to build its empire in the Shan State after defeated by the Communist in 1949. Khun Sa is the native of Loimaw township situated on the western bank of the Salwin river. Loimaw had to bear the brunt of this unexpected foreign invasion.Local people were conscripted for labour and military service, taxes were levied on them and they were subjected to harsh, lawless rule. One day the KMT armed troops took his grandfather’s horses and mules. Khun Sa can still recall his grandfather ,eyes filled with tears, as he directed his grandson to show the KMT personel present at the occasion, the designated packsaddle for each of the mules. The his resolved him to regard the KMT as foreigners and enemies to be driven from the motherland. He then organized an anti force from his boyhood friends and staged on a raid one erly dawn on an unsuspecting KMT unit. The surprise seem to be total because he managed to acquire 30 assorted weapons from this sihgle adventure. The KMT quickly moved to put his grandfather in custudy and demand the return of the weapons .Consequently, the young rebel had to free for his life into urban districts. The bittter experience that he had witnessed under foriegn occupation. After a ten years trail period led him to form a clandestine underground movement on New Year’ s Day, 1960. Col. Mong Shwe, the Burmese commander of the Eastern Strategic command (Shan State), who on 6 January 1960, offered him the status of a volunteer militia chief and a free hand in the build - up of his strength in return for his pledge to fight the KMT and commnist party of Burma (CPB). He accepted the offer. His strength, supported by the local merchants who were by nature averse to socialism, gradually grew and by 1963 spread to Kengtung, which borders with Laos. Khun Sa named his armed force as Shan United Army (SUA). The KMT joined the CPB force attacked the SUA in the following year but failed to destroy him. The KMT used a different strategem which turned to be unfortunately effective as subsequent events proved.
Opium War In Golden Trigle
KMT (Kuomintang-remnants of Chiang Kai-sheck’s defeated nationalist Chinese forces) refined opium into heroin on thai soil. “The opuim trade has indeed enriched many KMT remnants”
KMT, determined to Khun Sa at all costs, attacked his force in Ban Kwan, Laos. The battle raged for four days, 6-9 July 1967 and became known as the “1967 Opium War”. They also launched an operation against him in the following year, attacking him at Ban Nakha, Mong Kao Ward, Mong Lurn Township, Lashio Province. Failing to destroy him, the KMT used a different strategem which turned out to be unfortunately effective as subsequest events proved. Through couriers and contacts, the ex - KMT informed the Burmese Government of Khun Sa’s real intentions, i.e., to overthrow foreign rule by force.
In the opium war which ensued, Khun Sa admitted losing 700 joi (about one ton) of opium, 70 mules and 37 men. Presumably he meant only his personal losses as the caravan was reportedlyn carrying 16 tons of opuim to buyers in Laos.
